John Chilton is a self-taught photographer of twelve years focusing on Landscape, Nature and Abstract color photography.
He’s constantly striving to look at the world in a different way. His travels have allowed him the opportunity to shoot a wide variety of subject matter that open the mind and fuel his creative expression. It may be a striking contrast of colors or obscure architecture. Sometimes it comes in the form of shapes and lines that can be captured. He shoots primarily with a Nikon N80 camera with slide film and a tripod, relying on his eye and his creativity to create works rather than the latest technology. All photographs are “as is” – they have not been touched up in any way other than some minor cropping.
The Abstract portion of the collection that includes Reflections, Marshes, Sandscapes, Tree Bark and Mossy Rocks is a source of pride for John. “For some reason, I am drawn to certain color combinations and contrasting elements. I think that’s where my Abstracts begin and then I see if I can stretch those boundaries into the unrecognizable. I want my viewers to say “what is that?”
